Can a sliding door be "ajar"?

just talking with my husband and discussing irrelevant crap. lol

  • In the spirit of irrelevant crap...in high school one of my friends' parents had one of those cars that would talk to you. If you were in the car with the door open it would say "the door is ajar" in this 411 operator voice. We would argue with the car that no, the door was not ajar, the door was a door, a jar is made of glass, and a door is not. (yes, we knew what "ajar" meant, we were very very bored). So with that in mind, a jar is made of glass, a sliding door is made of glass, so yes, your sliding glass door just might be "a jar"
