FLEAS!!!!

Okay, so we took in this stray kitten and the little thing had fleas! It has long hair, and now our lab has fleas too! They seem to be multiplying by the second! The damn cat tries to scratch me up when I bathe it, and the poor dog is chewing her skin off trying to bite them off. What do I do!!?? Advice please!

  • First treat each animal with flea meds. Then you are going to need to vacuum the entire house and remember to empty it OUTSIDE as soon as you're done or they will just hop on out and rejoin your home. Keep a shallow plate of water in the rooms that are most infected- fleas love water but can't swim so they will drown. Good luck!

  • We always used Dawn dish soap and rinse them really good. It's the same stuff that they use on wildlife that ends up with oil on them, make sure you don't get it in their eyes, but scrub the heck out of them. The dawn will kill them and the eggs. Make sure you either get rid of or wash all bedding and if you have it in your carpet (which you probably do) then you will have to bug bomb your house. Good luck!

  • Johnson and Johnson no tears baby wash shampoo kills fleas. ...the same thing that kills the fleas is what makes it "no tears" ...

but they can live in your carpet and everything! perhaps wash all of it with No tears? idk.

  • I have my dog on the Comfortis pill. He takes it every month like clockwork. It kills fleas on contact. Never have to worry about it again. It runs about 10.00 at my vet's office. See if you can get them both on that.

  • Natural Flea options- Yes, Washing the dog and cat with DAWN dish soap will help to kill the fleas that have hitchhiked onto your pet. Then, you can use some Bio Spot ( a monthy application ) ---
If you use biospot on the kitten - only use 1/'2 the recommended dosage ....the stuff is strong.
    1/2 the dosage works.

AFTER that - you will want to place both pets on a good supplement that will help to KEEP the fleas away:
