Can you take someone elses child to get their ear pierced? My daughters 14 year old friend thinks I'm taking her and my daughter together to get theirs done?

  • My BF's mom took her and me to get ours peirced together. I think she had to lie and say she was my mom though.

  • I think it varies by state. When we took our daughter, 3 at the time, to get her ears pierced, we had to have either her birth certificate and both mine and my husband's id's to prove we were the parents or have the consent form notarized and show our id's.

  • Every place I've been to has asked for a parent or legal guardian's signature (and ID) if the child is under 18, so I would say you wouldn't be able to. You'll have to just explain that she won't be able to get hers done unless her parent goes too. Explain how parents have to sign for them, etc.

  • I'm not sure, but personally even if it was legally okay, I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't want to be held even partially responsible should something go wrong.
