Weird smell from Gerber Lil' Entrees?

This afternoon I made my son the chicken and noodle Gerber Lil' Entree for lunch. Well at first I didn't smell anything, and then when I got a spoonful for my son, it smelled like rotten chicken or something. So obviously I didn't feed any to him and threw it in the garbage. Like 15 mins later it had smelled up the whole house to the point that I was gagging! I checked the expiration date and it said April 2011. What the heck?

  • I remember feeding them to my daughter and they did smell weird.

I have avoided Gerber this time around. I was not impressed with their ingredients or quality.

  • Maybe it was bad. Everything stinks to me now though because I'm pregnant.

  • Send the company an email with the "lot number" if you still have the container.

  • I just think Gerber foods smell (well besides the snacks). In fact my DD will not eat gerber food. I don't know why she won't, but I guess to keep it shelf stable its got some type of preservatives in it she does not like. She loves mac & cheese and peas but won't if go near it if its Gerber. I think she knows the smell too.

  • Yet another reason why I refuse to buy "baby" food. Just give baby soft fruits & veggies to munch on...healthier & way cheaper.
