  • Why? The age of consent in MA is 16, some people think this is too young.

  • Why? To the best of my knowledge as long as the oldest is under 18; the age of consent is 16 & ^. Why do you think anyone younger than 16 should legally be allowed to consent to sex?

Not that the law stops them only punishes them.

  • I think it is too low already. 16 years old is not old enough to consent to something that can ruin their entire life.

  • No. The state I used to live in lowered it to 14 because they had too many statutory rape cases. The teen birthrate in the 14-15 age range went up once they lowered it. They later raised it back up to 16.

You lower it, any it makes it legal for older guys to seduce young girls. Most young teens are not emotionally mature and easy to manipulate.
