  • I know you can request an additional one, but insurance may not cover it...there are places that will do the 3D and 4D ultrasounds on request...not sure how much it costs. I know one of my girlfriends in California can do it right at the mall!

  • Since you're only 20 weeks, you will have more sonograms as the weeks go on. I would think that eventually your baby will open up his or her legs at some point! You can request a 3-d sonogram, but they're expensive and I don't think insurance covers them if not medically necessary. You could also have an amnio ... but there are too many risks and I wouldn't take those risks just to find out the sex.
My ex sis-in-law had several rountine sonograms and everytime she was told it was a boy. Surprise, surprise - she delivered a baby girl! Poor thing didn't even have a name for a few days because she was supposed to be a boy! LOL.

  • You can pay for another ultrasound. Usually your insurance will only pay for two or three ultrasounds, depending on your needs and your baby's needs. High risk pregnancies usually receive more ultrasounds. If you want another ultrasound when your doctor hasn't recommended it, you will have to schedule an ultrasound yourself and pay for it out of pocket.
