How does the Ovulation thing work?

I have been trying to conceive for almost 2 years. I think I'm doing it right with the ovulation thing. Day 13 being the best day, and I make my husband store up for 3 days. This worked for the first child after 2 months. I'm only 38, am I too old? are my eggs dried up?

  • Are you sure you're ovulating on day 13? Are you using a fertility monitor? I used a fertility monitor and it took us 9 months to get pg. I don't think you're too old. If you ovulate you can get pregnant. Good luck=)

  • Hi momma! Have you talked to your dr? Parents.com has a great ovulation calculator I've been useing...we just started trying again...also, clearblue easy has an ovulation test you can take as well. I never really undertood the whole ovulation thing either, but the website really helps! Good luck to you!!!

  • Using tests or charting your fertility symptoms is really important when you are trying to get pregnant. Some women ovulated as soon as day 10 or 12 in the cycle. Others are the "typical" and ovulate at Day 14. Some women have long cycles and take until day 21 or so.
Since it has been 2 years I would chart so you can see when you are ovulating and also see how long the time after you ovulate until you have your period is. If it is too short, you may have trouble with progesterone (not enough). That will cause trouble keeping a pregnancy.
Just a few things for you to look into. :)
