What kind of socks do you wear with your hiking boots / shoes?

I will be going hiking in a couple of weeks and I just dug out my old hiking shoes. My feet have grown since having kids, but the shoes still fit. I just can't use the socks that I used to for longer hikes. My question is do you use any thinner type socks for hiking and if so, which one's do you recommend?

  • Thorlo brand hiking socks.

  • When I go backpacking, I wear two pair of socks. One really thin cotton pair to wick moisture away from my feet, and one thick pair to absorb the moisture. I'd be careful about wearing just a thin pair of socks because they won't protect your feet as well and prevent blisters.

  • 100% cotton ankle socks because they keep your feet cool

  • Actually you should wear thicker socks. Not neccisarily winter socks, but thicker then summer socks. That way it soaks up a lot of the moisture and sweat, so it doesn't cause rubbing in your shoes.
