  • My oldest just went in I think last month for his 1st eye appointment. He did great. I don't just trust anyone either so I take him to my old eye doctor, even if it is very out of the way. They send me reminders when he is due for a check up so I won't ever get behind on it.

  • my oldest is 4 and he got his first real eye exam in Feb. and it turned out he had an astigmatism and needed glasses. He will get a yearly exam now because of that and I will start getting my daughter's eyes checked about at 4 too.

  • She gets regular eye exams. She also has to wear glasses to see anything farther than a few feet from her face.
I think that's why we kept up the eye exams regularly. Both my husband and me and our parents wear glasses and have either wore them since we were kids, or needed them since we were kids.
Plus, her eye doctor sends us a reminder every time she's due for another one, so it's just a matter of checking the mail and calling to make the appointment.

  • My kids and I go once a year, like clockwork; hubby tends to push it until he has absolutely no choice.

DS also sees a developmental optometrist once a year (he was previously diagnosed with a convergence insufficiency that was previously mislabeled as an LD/ADHD), and DD also sees a pediatric neuro-ophthalmologist once a year (has since birth) because she was born 3 months premature.

We do go for dental checkups every 6 months though we could easily push that back to once a year; we were doing that at one point because of our insurance and because our dentist said our teeth were in great shape and there was no need to visit more often unless our teeth were bothering us.

  • My son sees an opthalmologist at least once a year, more often if he complains of vision issues. He's been wearing glasses since he was 6 and typically has at least one prescription change every year.

  • I took my almost 9 and 10 year olds to the dentist about 3 weeks ago. I take them yearly - it's covered by insurance so why not?
