How do you keep white socks white?

1st I wish the kids would NOT wear white socks outside without their shoes - but they do occassionaly. What do you use in your whites to get the hard ground-in dirt out?

  • Wash your floors with vinegar water.

It rinses clean and does not leave a residue, like pine based cleaners can.
    Pine based cleaners attact dirt.

  • spray them w/ lemon juice & set them in the sun. The lemon juice is a natural bleach & doesn't break down the fabric as fast as bleach does. Also when doing laundry use 1 C baking soda (put it in as the washer's filling to ensure it all disolves before you put the clothes in) & throw a downey ball of vinegar in, the vinegar will release in the rinse cycle & really brighten things up. The baking soda & vinegar can be used w/ colors too.
