Can you even imagine?

A 6-month-old baby was killed Saturday and her mother injured by a falling tree branch at New York's Central Park Zoo.

Police said the 33-year-old New Jersey woman was posing with her baby in front of the sea lion exhibit and her husband was taking their picture when the branch fell.

The woman and infant were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where the baby was pronounced dead. The mother was listed in stable condition.

OMG that poor family!!! Never would it occur to me on a warm summer day to worry about a branch randomly falling onto me or my children!?? Freaky sad...

  • That is so sad. I feel sad for the fam. A couple years ago we were staying with my mom and the huge tree fell right in the front yard. My kids always played around that tree it was a good thing they were inside the house that day.

  • Wow! I can't imagine going through that! That is horrible! And a random tree branch falling is the last thing you would expect to happen! Has the zoo made a statement, or comment, yet?
