Does anyone know a nailpolish that is safe for children

My daughter always trys to steal my nailpolish but then I tell her you can use them when your 5 and she starts crying. I really feel bad when she cries but it's for the best. I heard of water base nailpolish but I need to know a little more about them. If you can tell me more about them it would be a little more helpful and can I use nailpolish when my daughter is only 3.

  • Most gift ~packs are pre packaged sets, that like strawberry shortcake.... These are made to be used at age 3, CVS or WALGREENS and WalMart most likely will have these gift sets or just single little .05 oz. bottles.

  • I'd look deeper into this! I don't know! Wondering if there's lead in it? What if she chewed her nails! So i don't know if there are any safe ones?

  • Hey, now that it's summer the fumes aren't a concern, just do them out on the porch or in the grass on the blanket. And start with a good polish that won't chip, if she is still sucking than just do fingers, and skip the thumb.

  • I just saw online Piggy Paint. It's non-toxic water based nail polish. You can find it on

  • nail polishes are typically all made with the same things.. I stay away from hardeners and stregtheners because they have formaldehyde in them, but otherwise there isn't much difference.

So long as she doesn't ingest it, you can let her use yours.

I let my DD paint her nails, and have since she was 1. She's actually really good at it, and can paint them without getting them all over her fingers already (she's 2 1/2 now). Obviously I stay right there with her, and sometimes buy the little stickers for nails and clear coat over them.

  • I've let all of my girls use regular nail polish since they were toddlers.
