How old were your kids when they were fully potty trained?

Our pediatrician says that most kids are not fully trained until about three, which is how old my DD was. DS is almost two, and we're going to work on it this summer but I have a more relaxed attitude about it this time. He has started taking off his diapers and handing them to us after he goes.

Do you think that using cloth diapers will help? Some people say that the kids don't like the feeling of being wet and will learn faster. We use mostly cloth with our son.

  • We used disposable diapers with our son. He was COMPLETELY potty trained when he was almost exactly 3.
We used cloth diapers with our daughter and she is 3 1/2 and I now feel comfortable saying she is COMPLETELY potty trained. I thought she was NEVER going to learn:)

I think it just depends on the kid...JMO

  • first dd was 2 years and 3 months old.

second dd was 2 years and 6 months old when we started and it didn't take her long to potty train but it did take us a long time to get her to wipe properly.

Our third dd we have not even started potty training her yet. She is starting to show signs of becoming ready but she's not quite there yet. she is 22 months old now. I have a feeling she'll be potty trained by christmas.

  • oh yeah and sorry I do think cloth would help. I do NOT use disposables while potty training. I potty trained my first in 1 week using just pretty panties. She learned very quickly. I did the same for my second DD too. She was a quick learner but not nearly so easy to potty train as my first.

  • Both my older two DD's were potty trained by 2 years. My LO will be 2 in a couple weeks, and she'd much rather pee on my floor than in the potty (thank God for tile flooring! lol). I think using either cloth, or just regular undies will help.
