Stupid question about heartburn and or indigestion during pregnancy.

I am not sure which one, if either I am experiencing.

I feel like all my food is stuck in my throat or upper chest and wont go down.

Hungry in my stomach, but feel like eating would make it worse.

I have never really felt like this.

Can I take TUMS...would they help you think?

  • It sounds like heartburn. I had it from the end of my 1st trimester. My doc told me that I could take Zantac as Tums did not help.

  • Poor thing! I had the same issue with my last pregnancy. My doctor suggested Mylanta, it worked better than Tums.

  • I can't make any medication recommendations ( I just wouldn't medicate during pregnancy at all) but try eating very slowly throughout the day. Feel better.

  • See if you can narrow down what is causing the feeling. I had HORRIBLE heartburn and figured out that tomatoes (sauce, raw, whatever) made it much worse. When I cut tomatoes out completely I felt a little better.

  • Limit acidic foods (orange juice, tomato sauce, etc.), drinking milk will help also as it is a base and will counteract the acidity in your tummy. You can take Tums and hopefully that will help, plus the added benefit of the extra calcium it contains!
