Painting a Kitchen...

Have you ever used stencils for your cabinet facings?

How did it turn out?

I purchased 'Dark Chocolate' and 'Summer Ivy' (more of a dusty sage) for my kitchen, since right now it is white, and it is HORRIBLE!!!
The cabinets will be 'summer ivy', and the walls behind them will be 'dark chocolate', and I would like to stencil a small scroll design on the cabinet faces, behind the hardware, to help accent and tie the colors together (though they are already beautiful!!!)...

How has yours come out?

(Now, off to paint my kitchen!!! YAY!!!!)

  • Well, the hardware is an nifty oxidized, brushed brass... and ties in nicely, the detail would be directly behind it, to break up the hard lines a little bit. Not on the entire cabinet facing. That would be too busy.

  • I have solid cherry cabinets, no paint will be touching them.
Just remember to wait til the paint on the cabinets has had ample time to dry before trying to stencil or the stencil might pull up the new paint job. Also use a stencil adhesive that will help seal the stencil, but will lift off easily.
    Good luck!!
