Cheap, good appliances?

Does anybody know of any cheap appliances that are still good? I am going to need a refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, washer, and dryer. I'm trying to work out a budget so we can move into a bigger house and the appliances we have now are not ours. Thanks!!!

  • Scratch and Dents are fantastic for new stuff. Sears Outlet is also real handy if you have one near you. We got our 3500 fridge for 900 dollars. We bought the extended service plan got the 2 things on it that were broke (minor things, but still costly) and then cancelled the plan. They refund your money. It's fantastic!

  • Sometimes you can find a good deal at a place like Aaron's or Rent-a-Center, paying cash to purchase a pre-rented appliance. When we lived in TX, our microwave was built-in, so when we moved here to NC we didn't have one. It's been almost a year and we still don't have one. Food tastes a lot better out of the oven and it usually only takes about 10-15 minutes to cook something that we would previously have microwaved. And, like the PP said, craigslist is great!

  • Can you wait until after Christmas? We bought appliances at Sears after Christmas when they were having a sale. 10% off first appliance, 15% off two, 20% 3 or more. Though it was in the form of a rebate. We bought a fridge, oven, and cooktop and got back $650.
