Will You Be Watching? The Spy Factory: Then & Now on PBS

The warrantless wiretapping controversy has taken a few twists and turns since The Spy Factory premiered last winter on NOVA. The show, which will be rebroadcast tonight on most PBS stations, reported on the National Security Agency's surveillance of vast streams of data--phone conversations, emails, faxes--from AT&T's regional switching center in San Francisco. But the biggest reversal came in March, when a federal judge ruled that domestic surveillance is illegal without court approval.

Apparently this is a re-broadcast; but I missed it the first time; looks like it will be very interesting...

  • Nope, I'm sure there is something else on I usually watch but if it is on PBS I'm sure it will be on again this summer.

  • And I imagine that a special called "The Spy Factory" will be about more than surveillance of internal communications.

It was interesting to learn that the "victims of right wing persecution" back in the 50's and the continuing Cold War - the Rosenbergs and others - were NOT innocent of the charges. Recent information confirms that they were working energetically for opportunities to steal technology secrets which would endanger American lives, or to simply kill/capture Americans.

And it would be stupid to maintain that infiltrating our State Dept and other depts, our military, and the staffs of Congress and the White House is confined to Soviets.
For years, such suspicions have been ridiculed as conspiracy theories. Now they're proven to be true.

How could anyone think that our current arab enemies are NOT doing it?
