tipping?

What is the proper etiquite...a girl is doing my hair on the side at her house..Do i still need to tip her. She is pocketing the full cost?

  • no I wouldnt tip her since she isnt paying a chair fee or anything.

  • If its a good friend doing you a favor then I wouldnt think its necessary.

  • My understanding is that you do not tip the owner of the salon....in her case, she is doing it at home so she's the 'owner of the salon'. She is not paying anyone for a space, she is keeping all of the money for herself.

  • Yup to all the pp's. If its someone who you're friends w/ & she cuts your hair regularly then do something nice for her, gift certificate @ Xmas type thing. Just once a year to let her know you appreciate her good work on your hair. Make sure she knows how much you appreciate her cutting your hair & doing a great job.

  • I would still leave a tip especially if it's a friend. Even if it was a small tip im sure she would appreciate it.
