1 Bump

Other than a humidifier or running a hot shower....

What are somethings i can do to soothe my 17 month olds cough? I suspect she has a sore throat too, her voice is very raspy.

Any remedy advice will be grateful, but natural or home remedies would be even greater! :)

  • Give her something cold to suck on. We used to have these net type things that we could but an ice cube in and let our babies suck on those.

  • when my daughter was younger she got really congested, we'd stand in the shower with her and let it get really steamy, that seemed to help a bit, we also let her sleep propped up in her car seat to keep her from getting stuffed up

  • You can buy cough syrup with honey in the natural section of the grocery store. It works pretty good......but I have heard that just a spoon of honey works great too, and coats the throat. Be careful to watch her for signs of strep throat if you think her throat is sore. You can set "Saline Mist" for her nose, and when you spray it up it goes down the back of the throat. If she has a lot of post-nasal dripping, this will help a lot. Also, soft foods like yogurt, applesauce, soup, bread, etc will stop it from getting more irritated.
