How Much do you pay a house sitter?

We will be gone for five days. The sitter will be a live in, access to the fridge & facilities (washer, showers, computers & TV). All she has to do is collect the mail, retrieve the trash cans on Thursday morning, feed, water & clean the litter for the cats, feed and let the dog out and water the vegetable garden.
What is a fair price? $150? or should it be more/less due to the meals?

  • I am astonished at that amount! I would have said $20 a day.

  • I'm sorry, I misread - she is a live in. In this case then $150 seems fair.

  • I charge $30/day for more than one pet so $150 is about right. Some people do charge $50 or more per day. However, since I stay at my clients' homes, I feel I am also getting a benefit by staying in their home.
