If sister in law is SIL, what is son in law?

My mother used SIL for my Dh, but it looked funny and I remember everyone using that for their sisters... So, what should my mom write out for Dh?

  • Ive always looked in the context to figure out, usually I dont care if its son/sister.. its an inlaw :)

I was reading a group post one day & It was about a daughter getting married.. Everyone took SIL as sister & not SON .... so, it makes no since if you think about it for a second ( a mom got a sister-in-law from DD getting married?!) but a few thought the daughter was gay...

  • I always figured both were SIL and you figured out which one was which by the context of the statement. I never say SIL for son in law because I have none!
