5 month old rubbing one eye

For the past three weeks or more my daughter has been rubbing the right side of her face, especially her eye. Her eye is not red, has no drainage, no stys or anything. It is irritating her and she is constantly rubbing, and pretty grouchy!
Could it be a part of teething making her face hurt, or possibly an ear infection? There's no ear drainage or smell or anything, but there's quite a bit of wax.
I just wondered if any of you mom's had a kid do this for weeks.

  • I don't know what it could be but I would probably make an appointment to have her eyes checked. My son has congenital glaucoma in one eye and it took three doctors to diagnose it (not saying that's what your child has, only that it could be something you haven't thought of yet). Eye problems are best treated as early as possible. Good luck, I hope you find out what's causing her discomfort.
