  • it's a yeast infection in their mouth basically. they can get it if they are on antibiotics or have a weak immune system

  • I was gonna say the same as princessbeth79. You need probiotics. Florababy is a good one!

  • It's a yeast infection of the mouth that babies can easily get because their immune systems are not fully developed. The naturally occurring candida in the body becomes too abundant.

  • If it is close to after birth, it can be from the vagina. Otherwise it can be spread countless way. It's just a yeast/fungus that grows. But if let go and not treated it can spread into their body, which is very painful for the baby. If your baby gets it and is old enough to be mouthing toys bleach everything they play with right away. I clean and bleach our toys often anyways, but when anyone gets sick it's an immediate thing and often till everyone is well. So clean their bottles and nipples extra well when treating thrush too.

  • It lives in the mouth normally. When they have an infection it has grown out of control. They can get it from their mother's nipples, toys, their hands, bottles, pacifiers, or anything they put in their mouth. If the baby has been on antibiotics it upsets the normal balance. All babies have a weak immune system and that's why they are more likely to get it then older people.

  • Ok, lets see if i can say this right... You have good bacteria and bad bacteria in your mouth and they balance eachother out. When asomeone is on antibiotics or has a weak immune system it can kill off the good bacteria andlet the bad bacteria take over. Leading to thrush, and yeast infections. As with a yeast infection you need to see your pedi to get antifungal medications. And it is contagious so if you are breastfeeding you can get it on your nipples, and have a slight chance of getting it in your mouth, dependig on your immune system :)
