At what age did your child(ren) start walking?

My son walked at 8 months old. And I thought that was pretty normal, until I started noticing other kids a lot older than him who couldn't walk. My friends little boy is 15 months old (same age as my DS) and he just now started. I was just wondering what the average age for walkers are.

  • #1 (girl) was 14 months
    #2 (boy) was 10 months
    #3 (girl) was 12 months
#4 (girl) was a week shy of turning 1

I think on average they start walking around the time they turn 1.

  • 10.5 and 10mo, respectively. It is normal for kids to learn to walk in their own time, some earlier and some later. Trying a lot of time trying to 'fix' what isn't broken causes a lot of problems.

Interestingly, no one can tell how old my kids were when they learned to walk, anymore. It's 'important' for about 8 months of their whole lives. It's impossible to tell how old a child was when they learned to walk long before they're 3.
