Okay we made it through $10 dinner any ideas for a $5 meal!

Hi hubby and I have been betting the cheapest dinner I can come up with,, I posted yesterday, and OMG,, you ladies had some really good ideas,, and he loved it! Yesterday's bet had to be nothing from the cupboard,, todays can be..I looke and I have frozen veggies pretty much every kind of soup, hamburger, hot dogs, and 2 chicken breast! Have at it LOL! If I can do this everyday for a week with his "set" amount we are going to Worlds of Fun with the left over money!!!

  • Garlicky Chicken-Mushroom Stew
    2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed
    salt and pepper to taste
    5-3/4 oz. can cream of mushroom & roasted garlic soup
    1 large bag of frozen veggies
    1 can mushrooms
    Arrange chicken in a slow cooker; add salt and pepper to taste. Mix together soup and water; pour over chicken. Add frozen veggies and a can of mushrooms; stir gently. Cover and cook on low setting for 6 to 8 hours, or until chicken juices run clear when pierced.

  • Get frozen stir fry mix, use the chicken breast, get soy sauce and fry them up together. add pepper. then cook some ramen noodles, drain them, and then there you go. Homemade cheap great tasting stir fry! :)

  • don't know the actual cost

    cheeseburger casserole

    brown the hamburger (ground beef)
    to the same pan add two cans of tomato soup and two cans of cheddar cheese soup
    add bag of frozen veggies (corn or mixed veggies is best)
    mix and stir till bubbly

    (while prepping the above, be baking fries or tater tots in the oven at temp specified on package)

    pour meat mixture into greased casserole dish
    put fries or tater tots on top of beef mixture
    bake in oven at 350 for about 25-30 mins

  • I would cut grill the chicken breasts, cut them up into small pieces, and make a chicken pot pie with all those veggies! Use a can of cream of mushroom or cream of chicken with the cut up chicken, and the veggies, and make a crust for the top (just like making biscuits just roll it out really thin).

  • Shepard's Pie :Take some ground beef, sausage or lamb( altogether or separate ur choice). Brown it in a pan. Pour into a baking dish and add a can of gravy or cream of mushroom soup. Then add a few small bags of frozen veggies. Layer with cheese(American slices, velveeta chunks, or shredded, your choice). Then top with some tator tots or mashed potatoes. Bake until the tots or MP are slightly brown.

  • Skillet Mac & Beef:
    Ingredients:
    3/4 lb ground beef (85% lean)
    1 small onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
    1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning or dried oregano leaves, crushed
    1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed Tomato Soup (Regular, Healthy Request® or 25% Less Sodium)
    1/4 c water
    1 c frozen whole kernel corn
    1/3 of a 1-pound package corkscrew-shaped pasta (rotini) (about 2 1/4 cups), cooked without salt and drained
    1/4 c grated Parmesan cheese

    Directions:
    Cook the beef, onion and Italian seasoning in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat until the beef is well browned, stirring often to separate the meat. Pour off any fat.
    Stir the soup, water and corn in the skillet. Heat to a boil. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until the corn is tender. Stir in the pasta cook until the mixture is is hot and bubbling. Sprinkle with the cheese.

  • Broccoli & Cauliflower Rigatoni

    Boil two pots of water, one for rigatoni and the other for a bag of frozen broccoli/cauliflower blend drain both when done

    in a pan add some butter and oil and then add fresh garlic that you minced, throw broccoli.cauliflower in and then the rigatoni and then sprinkle with parmesean cheese, a little salt and black pepper. The kids love it!

  • Take the chicken breast and place in a baking dish. Cover in some cream of chicken or mushroom soup. Bake until the chicken is done. Make some steamed veggies for the side dish.

  • Beef Taco Bake
    Ingredients:
    1 pound ground beef
    1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed Tomato Soup (regular or 25% Less Sodium)
    1 cup Pace® Chunky Salsa OR Pace® Picante Sauce
    1/2 cup milk
    6 flour tortillas (8-inch) OR 8 corn tortilla (6-inch), cut into 1-inch pieces
    1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (about 4 ounces)

    Directions:
    Cook the beef in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat until it's well browned, stirring often. Pour off any fat.

    Stir the soup, salsa, milk, tortillas and half the cheese in the skillet. Spoon the beef mixture into a 2-quart shallow baking dish. Cover the baking dish.

    Bake at 400°F. for 30 minutes or until the beef mixture is hot and bubbly. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese.

  • Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Beef Bake
    Ingredients:
    1 lb ground beef
    1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Mushroom with Roasted Garlic Soup
    1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    1 bag (16 ounces) frozen vegetable combination (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots), thawed
    2 c water
    3 tbsp butter
    3/4 c milk
    2 c instant mashed potato flakes
    Directions
    Heat the oven to 400°F. Cook the beef in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat until it's well browned, stirring often to separate meat. Pour off any fat. Stir the beef, 1/2 can soup, Worcestershire and vegetables in a 2-quart shallow baking dish.
    Heat the water, butter and remaining soup in a 3-quart saucepan over medium heat to a boil. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the milk. Stir in the potatoes. Spoon the potatoes over the beef mixture. Bake for 20 minutes or until the potatoes are lightly browned. Tip: You can use your favororite combination o
