Is Frederick to old fashioned?

My beloved grandfather was named Frederick and I would love to name our 2nd son after him (if we are lucky enough to have one) but my DH says its too old fashioned. hat do you think?

  • It is a bit old fashioned however I named my second son after my gramps and I think that is such a neat thing to do. The name suits him. He made the name young. Russell. If you are that worried or if you two can't agree use it as a middle name. I do like Frederick though I wouldn't even shorten it.

    My grandfathers name was "Federico" I guess that is Spanish for Fredrick ;)

  • I don't think it's too old fashioned. I think it's like Mike and Sam, there will always be just enough around it doesn't go out of style completely. My friend's little boy is Fred (Freddie still, for now) and it doesn't seem too old for him.

  • Not at all... I have an uncle Fredric (he's about 45? born in France) and a good friend named Federico (he's 24 or 25, born in Costa Rica)
