What is the best way to clean the inside of a washing machine?

I have heard something about vinegar but not sure what to do or how much to add. Anyone care to explain it to me? Also, I only have white distilled vinegar is this the correct one I am suppose to use? Thanks in advance!

  • I'd add about a cup of the white vinegar to an empty cycle to clean it out.

  • I always pour a lot of bleach in and run the washer with out anything in it... then I just take a rag with cleaner or bleach and wipe down the parts that didnt get cleaned!

  • Our washing machine has a setting to clean it and you add bleach. Check your machine's user's manual.
