Which is better: New York or Chicago style pizza?

It's the fight that's been raging for ages... which side do you fall on?

  • New York style, DEFINITELY! I love the thing, floppy, greasy pieces, lol! That is one food that ALWAYS sounds good to me. :)

  • I like NY style the best - Chicago style is too saucy for my taste.

  • I would say neither, then, after I just read the explanation.
I don't like the toppings put on backwards or have to eat a pizza with a fork, but I cannot stand thin crust pizza dripping with grease....ick!

I love a thick crust pizza with the toppings put on normally and no grease dripping off while I am holding and eating it. THAT is pizza to me.

So hands down to BOTH the Chicago & NY style pizzas....ick!

  • This is one of the sources of contention in my marriage. My spouse is from North New Jersey, and thinks that Ray's in the East Village has the best pizza in the world. We live in Chicago; I grew up here, so I know that Chicago has the best pzza in the world. We actually have three kinds: deep dish (like Uno's chain pizza, but better); stuffed (Edwardos Natural Pizza is unbelieveable) and very think crust (Candlelite, in West Rogers Park, has the best).

  • rkoloms, I have to say my favorite is Giordanos!!

I moved to Virginia 3 years ago and went to an Uno's hoping to get a little taste of home (grew up in the suburbs) and man was that pizza nasty. HAHA, I guess you can only get true Chicago pizza in Chicago!!

  • eh...what's the difference?? pizza's pizza! as long as its hot and fresh, with tons of cheese, some meats, a few other toppings, its all good. my dh would say 'chicago'..but he'll eat anything, and he says ''pizza is the food of the gods!! bwahahahahaha!"

    yeah.

  • There is a BIG difference between New York and Chicago pizza. Chicago is more like a deep dish PIE with the fillings placed inside backwards- like cheese first, then the toppings and then the sauce and you eat it with a fork most of the time. New York has the very thin crust and looks like what most people think about when they think pizza.

Personally, I hate Chicago pizza and love my thin slices of heaven instead.
