If when you blow out a candle you put the lid on before the smoke clears can the smell of the smoke get "stuck" in the wax?

I mean will it make the candle smell smoky next time you burn it? I am always afraid this will happen but my husband keeps telling me to put out my candles by putting the lid on it so that he wont have to smell the smoke.

  • No, it won't. If you blow it the smoke smell will happen. Pick up a candle snuffer next time you're out. Even Wal-Mary has them for a couple bucks. It smothers the flame without the smoke coming out. Putting the lid on has the same effect but isn't as effective because there is more air inside, making it take longer to smother out.

  • mine don't. It may depend on how strong the candle scent is.
