Would you let someone else take your 5 year old to a family cookout where there will be fireworks?

Or do you only trust yourself and husband/significant other to keep your kid safe around explosives?

  • Only myself or her father when it comes to water or explosives, etc. Other people are too distracted, I find.

  • I would let a select few people take my daughter! It would have to be someone I REALLY trust, but yes, as long as its someone I really know and trust, then I wouldn't have a problem with it!

  • I would, depending on who it is, since you said family, then yes.

  • Is this extended family of yours? Will there be grandma and grandpa there. If i had grandma and grandpa there I would be ok. If the person taking your 5 yr old has other children to care for as well, they might get distracted

  • No I wouldn't let anyone but me or my husband take him around fireworks. I would be afraid that people wouldnt pay attention.

  • My aunt is having a cookout and everyone is bringing fireworks to light once it gets dark tomorrow night. Mom wants to take Ki with her, her husband and my 9 year old sister, but I don't really want her to go. I do believe mom would do anything to keep Ki safe but she's not with her 24/7 and some paranoid part of me thinks she will forget she has Ki with her. Crazy I know, but that's it. I trust Ki more around the fireworks than some of the family, they can get a little wild. It will be the whole extended family there. My husband and I are unable to go to keep an eye on her, so we're just keeping her home and using the excuse of her strep throat she's getting over to avoid hurting anyone's feelings over it. We'll pick some sparklers up and watch the fireworks on tv, and still have fun.
