How much do you spend on a wedding gift for a distant cousin?

or how much cash would you give?
The only time we see this cousin is weddings and funerals, nothing against them, just don't know them.
It is an afternoon church wedding, no supper, a dessert buffet reception.
We will have to travel, we will need accomidations, possible time off work.
Sorry I wasn't sure what catergory to put this under.

  • I don't do cash for gifts. All wedding gifts from me consists of a kitchen fire extinguisher and if I like them I add a carbon monoxide detector. These are things they normally don't get at weddings, a shower or for themselves and are very appreciated when they need them. I had a kitchen fire one time and had a carbon monoxide leak so I know the value of both. If they ever need them they will thank you forever.

  • I would spend as little as possible, no cash, just a gift to remember the day

  • It would probably be more economical to purchase a gift than to give cash.

  • When I go to a wedding I normally give $50-$100 but in your case I wouldn't give that much. The aren't even serving dinner. I would buy a small gift.

  • Buy a small gift...around 20$ maybe if that..

  • it isn't about the cost of a gift... it is about the presentation of the gift.
It's all about how you wrap it.
    My Suggestion...
Go To the dollar store and by 2 matching wine glasses, Gift grass (the shredded paper stuff.), and a simple basket.
then go to walmart and get the cellophane gift wrap from the craft section (it will be by the baskets)
You can add a bottle of wine if you like.
wrap it all up and ta-da I cute gift for under $20

  • You don't need to set a price on a gift. You can probably find something on a really good sale!
