When you make spaghetti what type of meat do you use?

If use used meatballs did you also use ground beef or Italian sausage?

  • We use ground sausage and it tastes great. I am going to try the Italian sausage next round. =)

  • I just cook ground beef, usually 1-2 pounds per jar of sauce.

  • I usually use ground beef or ground turkey. Sometimes I'll make meatballs. I make my own sauce though - I don't use jar. LOL, I know that's not what you asked but I thought I'd throw that in there.
    I use ground beef or ground turkey - depending on what we have.

  • I use a combination of meats to make meatballs- pork, veal, beef- if I'm making Grandma's meatballs, which is only once a year.

    We like Italian sausage with our spaghetti. This week we grilled five pounds of sausage, I'll slice that and take a can of whole tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and basil, heat that together, mash the tomatoes with a masher, then chiffonade the basil, and toss in sliced sausage.

    I serve it over whole grain pasta. Jarred spaghetti sauce tends to have a lot of sugar in it./

  • If we use meatballs we don't usually put ground beef into the sauce.

  • I usually use lean ground beef. However, I often make a really good spaghetti sauce that contains no meat. :)
