How can I get my daughter to behave better?

My daughter is 18 months old. I'm constantly telling her off for something! She'll throw fits and scream and cry. Even hit me! I'm going insane with her behavior. What can I do?

  • Just tell her " we don't hit our friends or mommy or daddy" lol. Just teach her "ouch" that it hurts when she hits and to be nice and gentle. I would teach her to give hugs. Like if she hits you give her a hug and tell her we don't hit we give hugs. Don't get angry it just shows her how to handle things that are frustrating with anger and try not to let her see your expression get all frustrated.

  • Good ideas and make sure she is getting lots of hugs and kisses plus praise for the things she does right. Positive reinforcement for the good things goes a long way!

  • DON'T YELL! Speak calmly to her. Tell her what her limits are. Expect GOOD behavior! Grab her arms and hold them if she looks like she is going to hit you. BE GENTLE THOUGH!

  • You should NOT be "telling your child off"....I know this age can be tough but she learns from example. They don't call it terrible two's for nothing (mine was early too). Patience momma....distraction works too....

  • haahaa...dd flipped a switch when she turned 2, and i am still waiting for it to shut off. her current thing is not coming to me when i call her. sooo frustrating! i would suggest calmly talking to her when she flips, or using timeouts. i know my 2 yo HATES timeouts! she usually behaves after one. gl mama!
