How many tries did it take to get your license?

I got it my first try. I know someone from school who it took 6 tries to pass and my brother failed 8 times before finally getting his. Scary thought!

  • I think three. I am a little slow. My kids all passed on the first try. I am so happy they don't take after me.

  • First try, but I got it on a total fluke. I passed by test to get a learner's permit, but I didn't have a chance to practice driving a vehicle (I was away at school and the driver's ed class was closing down). I'd turned 21 and needed an ID to get into club's and such and the permit had expired (actually I may have been replacing an ID card that had expired, I can't remember). That's all I was intending to do, get an ID card. Anyway, they ended up giving me my license instead. My driver's ed teacher (who'd taken a few others to take their written tests--this was a few weeks before they shut the class down for lack of funds) told me not to say anything, and so I kept quiet. I did eventually learn to drive of course.
