  • All my kids were singing their ABC's by now! Just kidding - really if your baby is making any consonant sounds at all, she is doing great! If she can say cat, she is a genius! :)

  • LOL! You have NOTHING to worry about. Babies aren't saying much, if anything that early. My seven month old has just started to make the "d" sound. NONE of my kids were saying anything until almost a year old. There are kids who talk very young, but the average aren't talking yet.

  • They dont really start talking until about a year. A few words is okay. All my daughter said at 7 months was dada.

  • Kids develop their speech at different rates. At 7 months it is way too soon to know if there are any problems or delays. My older son was speaking in full sentences by 14 months, but my younger son didn't speak a single word until after 2. Now there is no difference in their language abilities. Just relax, she will get there.

  • early yet
if worried look for other signs

    poor eye contact
stares at lights or fans (or other spinning objects)
does not seem to like to be cuddled

    7 months very early
sounds like you are a very good yet worried mom

relax, read up on early sign to look for if you can not relax, this should cler your worry about this

  • your worried by this at 7 months? It's too early for you to be worrying about this. If she is not saying those things by 13 months, then it's OK to ask your Dr. about it. BUT, some kids don't say a word until they are 2 & that is normal. So, your child is fine.

  • My daughter is 7 months & isn't speaking yet. I haven't been concerned at all. 7 months is still really young, I'm not expecting much 'til around a year. Don't worry, mama!!

  • at 2 yrs people should be able to understand 50% of what she says, at age 3 its 75%....7 months is very very early to speak at all. be grateful :)

  • Uh, that's normal.  Most kids just say their first word around 7-8 months and most only know a few words at 9-10 months.  My middle daughter didn't even say her first word until she was 16 months and only knew 2 at 18 months (mama and dada).  My son on the other hand knew 6 or 7 words before he even turned 7 months and was speaking in complete sentences at 12 months.  All kids are different.
