I have a nasty cold, a bad sunburn,

and am sore, and breastfeeding.

Does anyone know something I could take?

  • You can take anything. They used to think cold meds would "dry up" milk but it doesn't. Cold meds or pain meds aren't contraindicated for nursing moms. However, cold meds really don't work that well. Nasal saline could help with your nose. I wouldn't use Vicks because it can irritate the baby's respiratory system.

  • Well, you can put aloe on your sunburn and use vicks if your nose is stuffed. I would ask your Dr. before you take any meds by mouth.

  • Acetaminophen can help with the sunburn pain.

  • you can take tylenol (acetaminophen) or Advil (ibuprofen)

Avoid decongestants as they can lower milk supply.
