  • Maybe something died in or around your home. I would start looking for it. At least, it isn't a skunk. When they spray, your eyes water & your nose smells skunk for about 24 hours. I hope you figure out what is causing that smell.

  • Some ideas. If you have a chimney, get it cleaned. Maybe a dead animal in it. Sewer or septic back up? Dead animal in your attic? Check all closets, laundry chutes, crawl spaces, toilet tanks.
Is it strongest in a certain part of the house or is it all over the house? Have your HVAC system ducts cleaned. An animal could be dead in there.
Maybe something or someone died in the house before you bought it. Get the carpet cleaned or replaced. Maybe it is in the carpet. Why was the house sold? If it was a foreclosure, someone may have done something out of anger. You just gotta find the culprit. (the dead whatever it is ).

  • Definatly could be something dead in the walls, etc. Also... could it be coming from the flooring? Sometimes carpeting can really hold onto and release those disgusting smells.. or if there is padding underneath the carpeting...
