what do you think about this?

the managers at my work started a new thing. i work at a portrait studio and on our down time we have a list of our customers that we call and tell them about our new specials and try to get them to make an appointment to come in. well, the managers just made a rule that every employee must make 100 calls a month a schedual 10 appointment otherwise you get a write up. 100 calls is easy, but you can't force somebody to come in and take photos. so if you made 100 calls, but not 10 appointments then you get written up! you are obviously still calling people it's not your fault no one's coming in. 4 write ups and you're fired.

  • There is something you can do on your calls, it's like asking for a job in reverse. Instead of saying something like, "Hope to See You", or "Do you want to make an appointment", just say, "And what time can I schedule you?". That way you get them in. If they don't buy, it doesn't go against the policy.

  • i think that's overkill.... youre right you can't force someone to come in and that type of pressure could cause you to lose business not gain it.... good luck hope you don't get a write up.

  • I think it sucks but the bank i used to work at did the same thing and they would fire you too also we had to get 3 mortgages a month it does not sound like a lot but when the economy was at its absolute worse and we were not a high traffic area it was darn near impossible! i empathize with you hun!

  • In this economy, that is crazy. Just because someone came in once doesn't mean they can afford to do it again. Good luck!

  • just their way to make money. it's complete bs but there is really nothing you can do about it.

  • Rediculous!!! If people can't afford it they can't afford it. If you are documenting the 100 people called that should be enough.

  • I would check in your employee handbook. is this something formal or just them saying it. That really is to much. It seems funny to me that they can write you up for that when it wasnt originally in your contract.
Look into it a bit so you dont get screwed.
    Good Luck

  • I would start looking for a new job. Look now while you have a job and can afford to find the one you want this time.....not saying you didnt want thisjob. the economy is bad and you have to protect yourself though.
