if you post an ad on Craiglist and you sold your item while it was still on craigslist and got other responses....

do you think its necessary to reply back to those responses with a "sorry its sold"...?

i do. i hate it when people ignore me cause i really would like to know if its unavailable!

  • If I have a definate sold, the first thing I do is take down the ad. If I have gotten other responses before I managed to get the ad down, I do send an email that says something to the effect of "thanks for your interest, but the item has been sold".

  • It's the polite thing to do to reply.

  • Yes, I always reply back and tell them it's sold, even if I already deleted the ad. I just think it's common courtesy.

But I do reply to people if I haven't gotten around to taking it down yet.

  • I might hit then up with a " thanx for the interest, but..." HOWEVER most of the time Im so focused with the item and transaction that I dont respond to others.
