should a 13 year old(she will be 13 this oct.) do her own laundry?

I was so excited when I got to do laundry at age 13. our daughter acted like that would be a crime when I brought it up.

  • I think she should. Teaches responsibility.

  • Mine does sometimes and sometimes I do it. Depends on who's there who has time and what needs to be done.

  • Not her own but everyones. There is no reason why she cannot help with the household chores. She probably balked because it's considered work

  • I plan on my daughter doing her laundry as soon as she can reach the knobs on the washer! I started my laundry at 10. Not all the time, but helping with it and washing all the laundry once a week to help my mom.
I'd say 13 is a little old to start, so yeah, she should be doing her own or helping and doing some!

  • I think she should. Laundry was my responsibility when from when I was 10 until I moved out. And not just my own laundry, but everyone's laundry.

  • start will bath towels
and in my house (10 and 13) kids do when i find one has left a wet towel on florr
that child gets to do the next load of towels
my 10 yr old has done some of her laundry with me helping
son-14 now does all his own, i think because he does not want me to do (maybe puberty teen boy doing "things")-lol

  • Yes! I did my own laundry from the time was 8 years old and other household and farm jobs. My Dh's little sister was complaining to me about having to keep her room clean, make her bed and feed HER dog. I told her I was the last person she should be complaining about that to. lol I think kids need to learn early on that everyone in the household needs to do their share.
