  • I intended on going to 2 years but she self-weaned at 11 months. Maybe the next one will go longer.

  • 1st child--wouldn't breastfeed so i lost patience and asked for a bottle
2nd child-i was determined to breastfeed, luckily she came out immediately drawn to sucking. but i breastfed her for about 2mths..she started pulling away and fussing too much, so again i lost patience and gave her a bottle but i kept pumping milk for a couple of weeks after.
i plan to have a 3rd and would really like to breastfeed longer next time around..

I have this great passion about breastfeeding but it just never seems to go so well. I hope with the next one i can get it figured out! I have learned a few things - not to use the pump at all! i think thats why i lost my milk supply both times and they make a nipple shield and that really helped with the latching on and made it so it didnt really hurt at all, i used that with my second one.

  • my 1st son weaned at a little over 2 years, but he stopped BFing regularly a little bit before 2 years.

my 2nd son is 2 mos old now and I pray I can BF him for as long but it's a lot more difficult this time because he was premature and unable to eat at all for a couple of weeks and my supply suffered big time from having to build w/ a pump instead of a baby at that critical time...

  • 14 months. Turns out she is deathly allergic to dairy so it would have been a horrible experience to have learned that by giving her formula as a newborn.
