  • The make of the car means nothing if the car hasn't been taken care of . That is what you need to look at, not so much the make & model.

  • I will choose a honda or subaru over anything else. Right now I drive a subaru and its great. I had one before and got in a wreck. I tboned a ford escort wagon going 60mph and walked away without a scratch. Im a believer!

  • Both can be good but what also matters when buying used is the specific car that you are buying. When we bought the car we have now, Mazda3, we picked a makes and models that we liked and then looked at specific dealers to make sure they were reputable. Then looked at specific cars to make sure they were well taken care of and weren't going to crap out on us in a month or so. We also go a warranty. And ALWAYS ask for a carfax. You want to know the history of the car. Has it been in any accidents, if so was the frame of the car damaged and so on. Good luck. :)

  • Start looking for cars in your budget. http://www.craigslist.org/ is a good place to start. http://www.kbb.com/ is a very good resource. http://www.carfax.com/ is your friend.

  • I've had 7 Hondas, and I LOVE them. We had a CR-V that had about 240,000 miles on it when it was totaled in an accident. If it hadn't been for the accident, I bet it would have run for a good long time after that. The best part is that we never have to do anything but oil changes and nothing ever goes wrong on them.
