Question about shrimp salad and pasta salad

I am making one of each for bbq next week. Just curious what everyone uses in them or if you have any good recipes. Do you put eggs in your shrimp salad? Thanks for your help

  • Just saw you asked about a pasta salad too :

I use the Hidden Vally mix and add milk and mayonnaise as directed. Then I poor it over cooked pasta bows andcool it in the fridge. When it has cooled I add cherrie tomatoes, bacon bits and olives.

  • I like my pasta salad with;

    favorite pasta
    fresh pearl mozzerella
    halved cherry tomatoes
    onions
    pepperoni
    chopped fresh basil
    red wine vinegar
    balsamic vinegar
    salt
    pepper
    garlic

very, very YUM! It's more of an Italian recipe than your typical American-Mayo pasta salad. I don't ever measure. i just wing it. Hard to go wrong with that combo of ingredients.

  • I've never made shrimp salad but it sounds good :) I make pasta salad quite often, what I do is buy the tri-color pasta, use hidden valley ranch powdered mix, hidden valley ranch, real bacon pieces cut into bits. Then I cut up green onions into tiny pieces and slice carrots with the cheese grater.
    I think its really good:)

  • I like to make mine in a tall dessert glass.

I put leduce in the bottom, cucumber and some tomatoes next. Add some hardboiled eggs (diced or cut into "moon" -shapes), then the shrimps (I prefer the small ones) and top it off w/ some thousand island dressing and a tsp. of black caviar.

I know: not the usual way of serving them here in the States..but I'm from Europe, sooo.....it's different :)

  • This was on a box of diced mixed veggies I bought at Costco (green beans, carrots and corn. I bought the veggies to throw in soups and stews, but could not resist this recipe:

1 cup uncooked spiral or bow pasta
1 12oz bag Bybee Foods Organic Garden Trio
4 diced Roma tomatoes (I used halved grape tomatoes, because that's what I had)
1/2 cup finely chopped scallions (I use used a sweet onion)
    1/2 cups feta cheese, crumbled

    Dressing:
2 Tbl chopped red onion (again, I used a sweet onion)
    2 cloved finely chopped garlic
    4 Tbl olive oil
    1 Tlb white vinegar
    2 Tbl water
    1 Tbl finely chopped thyme
    1 Tbl finely chopped basil
(instead of the two above, I used 2 Tbl herbs d'Provence)
    fresh ground pepper to taste

Cook pasta, drain and rinse with cold water. Cook Garden Trio vegetables as directed (I used a covered glass dish in the microwave) and cool.

    cont.
