Anyone else feel like a bad mom when your little ones get bruises or scrapes and you don't know where they came from??

My two year old has a bunch of scrapes (looks like she fell down), and I don't know where it came from!! My SO had her all day while I was at work, then he left as soon as I walked in, we didn't even have a minute to talk, and the poor girl has this scrape and I don't know what happend! Her other leg has bruises from knee to ankle (which are just from.. well being a kid). I just feel horrible not knowing how she gets her owies!!!

  • I do sometimes. My 17 month old has little black and blue marks all up and down his shins though on a daily basis, and sometimes on his butt because he plops down and lands his chubby butt down on toys, I know those are normal rough boys type of boo boos though, but anything that drew blood like scratches, or scrapes, or even bad bruises I would feel bad about. Most kids can't even tell you half the time though, they're so busy.

  • My 20 month old son has bruises on his legs and I have no idea where he got them from, but I know he's always running at top speed, falling outside, bumping into things because he doesn't look where he's going, etc. I think it's just part of being a kid! (they aren't dark or persistent or ALL OVER, or I would worry)

  • This happens. I notice every little scrape and my kids will say "I don't know" when I ask! Or my little girl will tell me it happened a week ago or something when it didn't. I try to keep up!

  • I do, but they are so busy that I can't possibly know what caused what they are all over the place. Plus it stays the same if they are still active as they get older. Heck, *I* get bruises from them most likely ramming into me etc that I don't know where they come from!

  • As long as you know no ones hurting her then you shouldnt feel bad. I hate when my 3 yr old son whos very active gets bruises right on the front of his legs, I think other people are going to think hes abused lol. Im with my babys 24/7 bc I stay home with them so I know that he gets them through playing but I still always ask him how he got a booboo.

  • I can usually guess what toy he fell on or climbed, or often see the boo-boo happening, but not always. It took a long time for me to realize that he was just going to keep getting scraped & bruised because he's a growing, curious BOY!

  • Yes! Or when people give you THAT look, Like why are you beating your kid? My son currently looks like he fought with a lion and lost, but it was his twin sister! Just great stuff! I don't even know where half of my bruises come from, let alone all of the kids' bumps and scraps.
