  • No because it transfers thru breastmilk to the baby

  • Like everything- it's OK in Moderation... I drink 1 coffee drink (my DD is 71/2 months)... Go get you a MOCHA girl...

This is a reason why people are so scared to BF they think it's more of "being pregnant" all the no-nos but, truth is... have a cup of joe- have a beer- just don't go overboard (which people shouldn't anyway BF or not)

  • Duh, everything is transferred through (not thru) through your milk!!! But, in tiny amounts around 1%.

It's wonderful that foods and drinks transfer through our breast-milk- that is why our BF babies have a better palates and are more open to trying new foods than non-BF babies.

  • You can have one cup as the above poster said, same as when you were pregnant, you could have 1 cup. JUST DON'T MAKE THE MOCHA AN EXTRA LARGE LOL :-)

  • a mocha won't hurt the baby. Caffeine does enter the breast milk tho, and can make baby fussy if you have too much of it. Your spelling is perfect.

Just have a small one, and no extra shots of espresso. It's largely believed that espresso contains more caffeine than regular coffee... and it does, if you drink it in the same amounts, but most drinks have two ounces, so it's a little less.

  • Drip coffee is the most caffeinated beverage...

  • Most babies do fine when mom has some coffee, a small percentage are extra sensitive to it and bothered by it. The the other PPs said, everything in moderation. There are very few absolute no-nos when breastfeeding. If you want more info on the research that has been done go to Breastfeeding and Caffeine

There is no evidence that caffeine decreases milk supply.

How much? the amount of caffeine that might affect baby will vary widely depending upon the specific baby and the baby's age and health. The estimate we often hear is "less than five 5-oz cups of coffee" or 500 mg/day.

  • Of course you can just keep it at one drink a day, so you go get that Mocha!!

  • If you drink too much, it could give your baby caffeine effects, and I don't know about you but I like babies to sleep. :P That said, one caffeinated drink a day shouldn't be enough to give a noticeable effect. I'm sure you could use the pep, too! Go for it.
