  • It felt as though a water balloon popped and I had a constant trickle. If you think your water has broken you need to L&D and be checked.

  • I would not have known because all of the fluid was behind my son and came out in a wave after him. My water broke during labor though. If you're not in labor yet and you think it may have, it's just a matter of calling your doc and they can test easily and tell you.

  • Mine broke at home with my first. i was asleep and it woke me up. I thought I had peed., LOL i went to the bathroom and changed and then there was another gush. It was not continues. It was more of a leaking. If you think your has broken go to labor and delivery and find out. GL mama!

  • Not everyone's water breaks in a gush. Mine dripped a little bit and then dripped some more a few times. Only enough to make like a quarter size wet spot in my underwear. Then after about 3 -5 times it gushed all over my pants. If you are worried you can get a litmus test done at the hospital. Easy as them taking a small piece of paper and swiping your area and if it changes colors they know.

  • you had a large gish of fluid or a steady trickle of fluid, its most likely your water

Answer by AshJoe05 at 10:39 PM on Jul. 8, 2010

  • the fluid that is leaking out feels oily (mix veg. oil with water and put your finger in it- that is what it feels like). Sometimes it comes out steadily. other times, if the tear is small, only a small amount of water will come out. If you think your water has broken, call the dr. they will ask you specific questions and tell you to come in if they think you should.

also, labor pains will start soon after your water breaks (within a few hours- if it doesn't you will be "helped along" in the hospital)
