Front seat+10 yr old+air bag?

For some reason I'm thinking that it's recommended that a child be 13 before they are allowed up front with an airbag but I could be wrong. Anyone know?

  • It's 12. It usually will say so on your visor.

  • Age I would not worry about it is Weight- 110 lb. Unless they are really short, because the impact could knock the wind out of them.

My daughter is 11 an is able to sit in the front locally, I won't how ever put her in the front on high ways. I don't know I get nervous.

  • The recommendation is children 12 and under should be in the back seat. However, if the seats are all taken in the back by younger children, then the front seat is ok to use. But the air bag should be turned off.

  • I believe its 12 too. My son is 10 and he sits in the front seat, I turn off the air bag still.

  • I heard that it depends on the height of the child in question. Not sure on the heights though, sorry.
