Need some help Moms!

My dd had her 6 month well-baby check today and she's doing pretty great. Right on track developmentally, gaining length just fine, but she's hardly gaining weight. She isn't losing but she's only gained 2 ounces in the last 5 weeks. She's breastfed, so I have no idea how many ounces she gets daily but she does have enough wet diapers. She gets solids and has made her way through all the typical stage 1 first foods, the only one that was a no-go was carrots, it gave her a rash on her face. Long story short, I need some suggestions on how to help her gain some weight!

  • i worried about this one time in my son's life. he weighed. 21 pounds for the longest time like a year ago. now a year later he's only 28 pounds. he doesnt gain weight well but as long as he's healthy, i think he will always be the kind that can eat anything but still be able to maintain his weight

  • I wouldn't be worried about it. My Daughter gained absolutley no weight for 3 months, didn't loose any weight either. Give her time, as long as she is eating I wouldn't worry about it. My daughter is 18 months now and doing wonderfully.

  • Is the doctor concerned? She sounds fine, mine didn't gain quickly.

  • Was Dr concerned? She is within the normal weight ranges isn't she? Are you/hubby petite? Sounds like she'll do fine.

  • Sounds like you're doing everything right. As long as her head is growing and she isn't losing weight, all is well.

  • her doctor is concerned, and sending us to a nutritionist. I am getting plenty of calories and am very conscious of making sure I drink enough water. The doctor is concerned because she went from the 31st percentile at 4 months to the 11th at 6 months.

  • Do a little bit of research; breastfed babies do gain weight slower.

Feed your baby avocado and egg yolk every day; lots of good fats there.

  • I realize that breastfed babies gain weight slower, but 2 ounces in 5 weeks is too slow even for breastfed babies. Thank you for the avocado suggestion though. eggs are out though, history of egg allergies in my family.
