  • According to my Psychopharm instructor who went through Heroin withdrawl, it is the ONLY drug that you can detox from without medical help. You may feel like you are dying, it will feel like the worst flu that you have ever had. She said it took roughly a week to detox and 30 years to stay away. It will not be easy but with support you can do it. I wouldn't take any other drugs at the same time, even Xanax... you will be substituting one addiction for another. You don't want Methadone unless you can't do it alone, Methadone is just as addicting as any street drug. Contact a drug rehab center or your doctor for help.

I wish you all the best and a speedy detox and a lifetime of drug free living. You CAN do it. Stay strong and don't be afraid to ask for help.

  • I hope that you are in a rehab facility... If you are not, you really need to be. The folks there are trained to help you through withdrawl from an addiction.

  • Totally agree with the PP. This is not something you want to do on your own.

  • Yes, it depends on how much you're doing each day. The more you're doing, the harder and more dangerous it can be. Are there any methadone clinics nearby? it can help you kick in a safer way. You will need support; someone who loves you and will take care of you. Expect it to last about 5 days from start to finish. Something like Xanax or Valium can help a little. But you will be sick, and it will be very hard to resist going back b/c you're gonna want to die. Don't do it alone if you don't have to. And don't tell your enablers what your are doing because they will try to "help" you by copping for you. Be with people who won't do that. Good luck.

  • Xanax can be helpful temporarily. Kicking dope on your own CAN be dangerous, so it's best to do it in a facility/ under a doctor's supervision. Methadone is addicting, it's true, but it can be helpful for detoxing.
