Did angels have sex with humans?

In Gen 6:1-2 it says: When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose.
And then in Gen 6:4 it says: The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

So, who are these "sons of God"? Are they angels? If they are angels, what do you think of this? I didn't think angels could have sex with humans?

  • The archangel Michael says that they can do anything they want to, including taking human form and joining with human women. He says it isn't sex in the conventional sense. More like what happened to the virgin Mary. But, biblically speaking, you have to accept that "sons of god" refers to angelic beings and not a DIFFERENT kind of being. This is a common christian interpretation of that verse, but isn't necessarily what is really meant. Translating the old Jewish language is difficult, even if you're a biblical scholar. It is so full of metaphors and similes. It could mean other god beings (like those mentioned in the verse "Let US make man in our image and likeness")

  • It's a nice, cheesy way to explain away the 'old gods and heroes' of ancient times and to place the Hebrew God at the front. It encompasses the Pagan Gods in order to make them more accepting of the 'new' religion.

  • Yes. In the Biible Satans angels were vey jealous of the things humans on Earth were able to do (Have sex, bear children and the like) they formed human bodies to experience these things. It was one of the main reasons for the great flood in Noah's time. Nephilim literally means "fallen angel". Goliath (as in David and Goliath) was one of these angels as well. You could tell which were these angels as they grew to be giants.

  • Biblically, yes, they did. But this was before Satan & His angles were locked out of heaven, so good or bad they were all still "angels."

  • "And after some days my son, Methusela, took a wife for his son Lamech, and she became pregnant by him and bore him a son. And his body was white as snow and red as a rose; the hair of his head as white as wool and his demdema(long curly hair) beautiful; and as for his eyes, when he opened them the whole house glowed like the sun...And his father, Lamec, was aftraid of him and fled and went to Methusela his father; and he said to him, 'I have begotten a strange son. He is not like an (ordinary) human being, but he looks like the children of the angels of heaven to me, his form is different, and he is not like us...It does not seem to me that he is of me, but of angels...'

The book of Enoch...which as a lot more info on the union of angels and mortal women that the bible. There's also a great book by Andrew Collins calle 'From the Ashes of Angels; The Forbidden Legacy of a Fallen Race' that really explains it all well.

  • Did you read my question? About angels having relationships with humans? Kissing them, and falling in love with them...

  • Why are they called son's of God, if they are Satan's angels? Son's of God makes you think they are good...or at least that is what I was thinking.

  • All angels were originally good but just as humans do they have free will. Therefore they can 'fall' and they can become immoral and the can sin.

  • Yes, I am not getting the negative words in these verses - in all other translations the Nephilim is replaced with Giants - not fallen angels, and these giants - the product of the sons of God (which seems like a positive name) and the daughters of men - which are called the hero's of old the great men of ancient lore. None of this seems to be bad or mention fallen angels, sin or Satan....

    I'm just trying to understand.

  • Yes according to the bible they did. Angel's looked down upon the earth, noticed the beautiful women, then came down, took the forms of men, had sex with the women, and bore children. The children were then called the Nephilim. They were considered bad in the eyes of God and they corrupted all those around them. God became angry at he humans and decided to wipe them out. However this is where Noah comes into play. God saw that Noah was still righteous so he had Noah build an ark. When the flood waters came, only Noah's family was saved because no one else believed. When the angels who took the form of men were about to die, they left their bodies. They tried to go back to heaven but God denied them entrance and they were instead sent to Hell, and became followers of the Devil.

    hoped that helped.
